Civil Engineering

The Civil Engineering Division has designed and supervised the construction of earthworks, roads, stormwater and sewerage reticulation for residential townships and major industrial parks for both private developers and public authorities. Depots for the petroleum and chemical industries have also been designed and supervised. Road rehabilitation and maintenance has been undertaken on local, provincial and national routes.

Together with the Geotechnical Division, waste disposal sites and pollution control measures have been designed and supervised. The interaction between the Civil and Geotechnical members of staff has also resulted in the optimum utilisation of materials available on site for road construction and building operations, and the economic design of earthworks.

Economic and efficient designs are enhanced by the use of computer based digital terrain modelling programs and CAD facilities.
